Unit economics

One light of empowerment

₹600

is the full cost of making one adult literate for the rest of their life.

  • Learner toolkit — two books, flash cards, writing sheets, test papers
  • Volunteer or Akshar Saathi orientation and support
  • Portal registration, monitoring and field verification
  • Assessment, examination and certification

No adult learner ever pays a rupee.

Return

You are not funding one literate adult.
You are funding a literate household.

Children stay in school

A literate parent values schooling. Drop-out rates fall and the pull towards child labour weakens — the single highest-leverage effect we see in the field.

Money becomes visible

Wage slips can be checked, bank forms filled, a signature replaces a thumbprint. Financial literacy is built into Book 2, not bolted on.

Dignity in public life

Bus routes, hospital signs, government notices, a mobile screen. Independence in a hundred ordinary transactions a month.

Women lead the gain

The majority of India's non-literate adults are women. Every centre we open shifts that ratio in the village it serves.
